HIS 2236 - Black America and the Civil Rights Era, 1896-1968

This course begins with a series of Supreme Court decisions at the end of the 19thc century to assess the factors that led to the formation of the mid-20th century movement for civil rights, a century of struggle in Black America, from Plessy v. Ferguson to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
