ART 501 - Drawing I


Credits: 3
This course has been designed to help students develop and practice fundamental skills in Drawing - a basis for all visual art forms.  Drawing series of assignments of increasing difficulty from observation will teach a student to see and perceive things as they are, not as they think they are.  The principles of perceptual drawing: composition, spacing, measurement, perspective, linear and areal, tonal values and form principle, introduction to human form, will be explained and demonstrated in major dry media.  Color, as a powerful element of artistic expression will be emphasized in mastering colored pencils, Conte Crayons and pastel techniques.
