Disability Support Services Post-Baccalaureate Certificate


The Disability Support Services in Higher Education Certificate Program is composed of five 3-credit courses and a 3-credit practicum. Four of the five courses are specific requirements; the fifth is an elective. The program prepares postsecondary disability support services (DSS) providers with the knowledge and practical experience to work in or direct a DSS office in a two-or four-year public or private college or university. Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to, the impact and application of legal issues, development and management of a DSS office, understanding and interpreting diagnostic assessments, understanding and application of Assistive Technology, and counseling and working with diverse populations.

Admissions Requirements:


  • Completed application for graduate study
  • Official transcripts verifying completion of an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Three official professional or academic recommendations
  • Professional resume highlighting related work experience
  • Letter of intent detailing personal and professional goals relative to the program
