Credits: 4.0
Does everybody in society have an equal chance of finding a marriage partner? What happens when some people are squeezed out of the marriage market? This course will examine the demographic process referred to as the marriage squeeze whereby societies experience an imbalance between the number of potential brides and grooms, hence squeezing out some people from the marriage market. The course will examine the conditions that lead to the incidence of the marriage squeeze and its implications across cultures and over time.
