SLM 501 - Administration and Leadership Credits: 3 This course explores the roles of the school librarians as stated in the 2009 AASL standards, Empowering Learners: Guidelines for School Library Media Programs, focusing on advocacy and leadership. Topics include the five roles of librarians: educational leaders, instructional partner, information specialist, teacher, and program administration. Candidates complete a leadership analysis, a professional development plan, an advocacy plan, create a school library website, and discuss course topics with practicing school librarian.
