REL 2217 - Religions in North AmericaCredits: 4.0 A wide-ranging examination of the diverse religious life of North America both in history and today. Attention is given to religion among native peoples, mainstream groups such as Judaism, Catholicism, and Protestantism, marginal movements such as Scientology and other new religious movements, and religions among recent immigrants such as Santeria and Vodou. The course will look at the history of religions in North America, themes that have characterized North American religions, and case studies.
