HSM 516 - HR for Public and Non-Profit Organizations

This course provides an overview of the processes, practices, and systems involved in employing people in nonprofit and public unionized and non-unionized settings.  The course
will examine theories and best practices on topics pertinent to human resources management in the public and nonprofit sectors. These topics will be organized under the broad categories of ethical standards; employment law; recruitment, training, and evaluation; and compensation and benefits. Candidates will explore the concept of strategic human resources management as an integral part of leading and managing nonprofit and public sector organizations through a variety of assessment techniques, including case studies,
research papers, and oral presentations.
