Design is a course that gives students the basic understanding of the elements of visual expression and the underlying principles of visual perception, organization, and structure. Through a series of studio projects, students develop problem-solving strategies that enable them to combine and manipulate these elements and
principles in order to interpret and communicate the visual language Concepts are explored using traditional and digital tools and techniques. Emphasis will be placed on exploration and experimentation, development
of problem solving and critical thinking skills, gaining a basic visual vocabulary, and expanding one’s understanding of and appreciation for the visual and applied arts.
