Why was the United States the first place it developed, why was Elvis filmed only above the waist on TV, and what does that have to do with the music anyway? In this class students will explore the roots and origins of Rock and Roll, the impact of society and race on the music and its reception, and where it has traveled since its beginnings, and why.
