PDE 560 - Common Ground on the Hill Credits: 3 - 6 In this immersive course, master musicians, artists, craftspeople, and creative thinkers provide an integrated experience in diversity, equity and inclusion. Instructors reflecting local, national, and international communities teach music and art forms representing ethnic and cultural traditions of people who are marginalized in our society or who may be in conflict with each other, bringing diverse people together and encouraging new ways of interacting. Academic readings, discussion, and reflection, guided by McDaniel College faculty members, contextualize these experiences assisting participants in understanding and adapting them to inform their own teaching and deepening their ability to make diversity, equity and inclusion part of their ongoing practice.
