GRN 512 - Ethics and Aging Persons

Credits: 3
Prerequisites GRN-501
This course examines the basic principles of ethics and their application to working and interacting with aging persons. Topics include an historical and contemporary review of ethical principles with a focus on the principle of autonomy and how that principle is extensively abrogated by younger persons and organizations who are assumed to or actually provide care and services to older persons in a variety of settings. Candidates complete an intensive evaluation of the ethical approach to aging persons from legal, public policy and relationship aspects as they affect both individuals and communities and the national and global society.
