EDU 574 - National Board Certification, Part III Credits: 3 This course further expands the foundational knowledge and evidence-based practices of accomplished teachers in preparation for National Board Certification found in EDU 572 and EDU 573. Candidates will build components one and four for the National Board Certification portfolio. Component Four addresses The Candidate as an Effective and Reflective Practitioner. This component requires candidates to demonstrate evidence of their abilities as an effective and reflective practitioner in developing and applying knowledge of their students. It also requires candidates to use assessments to effectively plan for and positively impact their students’ learning. Candidates also reflect upon their collaboration with families, the community, colleagues, and professional learning communities to advance students’ learning and growth. Component One addresses Content Knowledge. This computer-based, culminating assessment asks candidates to demonstrate their understanding of content knowledge and pedagogical practices for teaching in their content area.
