EDU 4211 - Teaching Science in Early Childhood

This course examines theoretical perspectives, concepts, and standards to inform developmentally appropriate, culturally and linguistically relevant pedagogy for early childhood science education. Course content includes concepts in earth, physical, and life sciences with a focus on
facilitating sensory exploration, observation, investigation, and inquiry. Candidates investigate and apply methods, materials, technology, and scientific tools to engage children in scientific practices and develop children’s critical thinking, problem solving skills, and conceptual understanding.
 
Prerequisite(s) EDU-2015 with a grade of C or higher; Minimum required score for Praxis Core, SAT, or ACT or permission of department chair
