Credits: 4
This course introduces students to different - mostly award winning - non-American films of the 21st century, especially the last decade i.e. the 2010s. We will see and discuss films representing different cultures and different genres. The course will concentrate on sociocultural differences on the one hand and on different narrative strategies on the other. The course is set out to examine the different value systems that are represented in our films and will focus on the relationship of fate and free will, social norms and the transgression of these dominant norms. We will also survey the reasons why these films were able to cross borders and become internationally successful.
Offered at Budapest campus only.
McDaniel Plan: International
