EDU 2010 - Early Childhood Theory and PracticeCredits: 4 This course presents an overview of theory and best practice for developmentally appropriate environments, materials, and curriculum in the early childhood setting. Course topics include program models for early childhood education, types and stages of play, program design that incorporates play as a core teaching practice to extend learning across age levels, and creation of a physically and emotionally safe learning environment. Candidates will plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive activities to foster children’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and linguistic development. Prerequisite(s) EDU-1141 with a grade of C or higher Co-requisite EDU-2110
