GNI 1150 - Italy Unveiled: A Cultural Exploration

Embark on a journey to Italy that offers an immersive and educational experience in its history, society, art, and cuisine. This 2-credit international travel course blends academic exploration with visits to renowned cultural sites in some of Italy’s most captivating cities, incorporating reflective journaling along the way and a culminating self-designed academic project. The itinerary promises a diverse and enriching experience, going beyond historical sites and museums to involve exploration of local customs and businesses as well as experiential activities involving Italian traditions and cuisine. Guided city walking tours will provide insight into the artistic, architectural, and historical treasures of the region. Through a holistic approach, the course aims to enhance fundamental communication skills, foster social connections, promote independence, and provide exposure to diverse cultures. The objectives extend to expose students to daily life in Italy, its cultural nuances, and historical contributions to Western civilization. This cultural travel course is an exceptional opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, deepen their understanding of Italian culture and history, and gain a unique perspective on the world.
