SPA 3200 - Intro Spanish-Speaking World

Credits: 4
This course serves as a bridge from intermediate level Spanish language courses to more advanced courses by providing a general knowledge foundation about the Spanish-speaking world from Spain to the Americas, including its basic geography, history, society, current events in context, and popular culture. Students will strengthen their reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills. An emphasis will be placed on acquiring general knowledge, expanding active vocabulary, and communicating in more creative, effective, and informed ways. Skills will be developed through daily short readings, extended class discussions and presentations, listening comprehension practice with longer native speech in audio/video media, and frequent, guided writing activities. This course is taught in Spanish.
