This course is a broad survey and introduction to the events, ideas, and forces that have shaped the United States from the pre-Colonial Era to the American Civil War. Topics may include indigenous cultures, European contact, the American Revolution, the Early Republic, westward expansion, and the social and cultural movements and changes that helped create and define the nation in its first several decades.
