HON 4100 - Envision

Credits: 4
Envision brings Lumen Scholars together at the end of their McDaniel undergraduate experience to create multidisciplinary projects that apply their capstone research to–based on current events–envision unavoidable futures. The classroom experience will emphasize creative processes from idea generation to final deliverable as students create projects such as two-dimensional works of art and design, three-dimensional works such as prototypes or models, time-based works such as films, podcasts, or works of music or theater, or interactive projects such as websites or mobile applications. Through mentorship and the introduction of various methods and skill sets, students will participate in a feedback exchange and develop additional skills in design thinking and effective communication. Reflection on the role of creativity in innovation and social impact will be central to the course, as students explore how their interdisciplinary knowledge can contribute to transformative change in their communities and beyond. The focus of the course will vary by semester and instructor.
