DED 541 - First and Second Language Development Credits: 3 Prerequisites DED-511 This course explores the processes and theories of first and second language development with a focus on Deaf learners. Topics include linguistic milestones in American Sign Language and English, cognitive and social influences on language acquisition, and the impact of language transfer and bilingualism. Emphasis is placed on theoretical frameworks and their application in bilingual Deaf education.
