January Term is a three-week term between the fall and spring semesters in which students and faculty explore new areas and expand their intellectual horizons. Students choose from specially designed courses offered on and off campus. Some students take advantage of January Term for independent off-campus study or join one of many study tours abroad.
All students must complete one two-credit Jan Term course.
Community Service Option
Students who have already completed a January Term course and wish to enroll in a subsequent year in an approved credit-bearing January Term course that focuses on community service will not be charged for tuition. First Year students who enroll in an approved credit-bearing January Term course that focuses on community service may enroll in a subsequent year in a January Term course and will not be charged for tuition. Approved community service courses will be identified by the Office of Academic Affairs and indicated in registration materials.
