Dr. Rebecca Carpenter, Director of the First-Year Seminar Program and Jill Krebs, Assistant Director of the First-Year Seminar Program
The First Year Seminar is a student’s introduction to McDaniel College and the liberal arts. Nearly all disciplines offer unique experiences and topics in their First Year Seminars, and each course also provides excellent opportunities for growth in the fundamental skills students need to succeed: critical thinking, analytic reading, writing, and oral communication. McDaniel encourages students to use their First Year Seminar as a time to explore the many and varied disciplines in the liberal arts. A student’s First Year Seminar instructor also serves as that student’s initial academic advisor.
Please note that students may not add, drop, withdraw from or repeat a First-Year Seminar course.
