Dr. Rebecca Carpenter, Director of the First-Year Seminar Program and Jill Krebs, Assistant Director of the First-Year Seminar Program

The First -Year Seminar is a student’s introduction to McDaniel College and the liberal arts. Nearly all disciplines offer unique experiences and topics in their First-Year Seminars, and each course also provides excellent opportunities for growth in the fundamental skills students need to succeed: critical thinking, analytic reading, writing, and oral communication. McDaniel encourages students to use their First-Year Seminar as a time to explore the many and varied disciplines in the liberal arts. A student’s First-Year Seminar instructor also serves as that student’s initial academic advisor.

Please note that students may not add, drop, withdraw from or repeat a First-Year Seminar course.
