Culturally Proficient Teaching (CPT) Certificate

Overview


The Culturally Proficient Teaching Certificate is an 18 credit-hour program that helps educators gain an understanding of culturally responsive instruction and leadership.  This program exposes candidates to research based best practices of curriculum, instruction, instructional materials, professional development, school climate, assessment and leadership practice, specifically in the areas of ETM and ESOL.  This program prepares educators for changes demographics in the 21st century school by providing experiences to design curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.  The program seeks to produce educators who understand intercultural communication, establish culturally supportive learning environments, confront prejudice, bias, harassment, and discrimination, and advance educational equity in assessment through identifying and selecting bias-free instructional materials.

Admissions Requirements


 

Candidates required to submit:

  • application for graduate study with non-refundable fee
  • official undergraduate transcript conferring bachelor’s degree from accredited institution
