The data analytics program at McDaniel College provides graduate learners with the skills needed to be successful data analysts, operational analysts and leaders in a competitive global Information Technology arena. The curriculum is designed to provide a complete and thorough understanding of the main key technologies that constitutes data science, statistics, data mining, problem analysis, big data and decision making. Students will also have hands-on experience to apply the theoretical foundation of Data Analytics. The program uses sound practices, current and emerging tools and technologies, and effective teamwork approaches.

Special emphasis is placed on real-world application and clear interpretation of results for shareholders using both prose and graphical methods; and the ethical collection, use, and storage of data.  Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to operate in data-rich environments, accessing data to drive decisions and enhance organizational performance. Students will develop the skills and knowledge needed by today’s quantitative professional through a curriculum that stresses practical applications and use. Students gain expertise in statistical methodology and database development and management. In the second year, students will have the opportunity to collect, study, and analyze a data set and question from their own place of work.

Admission Requirements:


  • Completed application for graduate study. https://admission.mcdaniel.edu/apply/
  • Official transcript verifying completion of an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Students with a GPS between 2.75 and 2.99 will be admitted provisionally which requires a student to maintain a 3.0 GPA in the first 9 to 12 credit hours. Students with less than a 2.75 GPA can be considered for provisional admission on a case-by-case basis but may be required to provide additional documents or participate in an interview. Admission may also require additional conditions.
  • A professional resume highlighting related work experience.

International Students:

  • English Language Proficiency: IELTS - 6,  TOEFL -79 ibit.  Student who have received a degree in the US or outside of the US at an institution using English as the primary language of instruction are waived from this requirement (letter of verification from the institution will be required)
  • WES or ECE transcript evaluation providing course-b- course evaluation with GPA

Other International Student Requirements:

Students seeking F1 visa status must provide financial support verification, copy of passport, copy of prior I-20’s, copy of current Visa if applicable, I-20 transfer documents if applicable.
