Kinesiology (KIN) MS


Overview

The graduate program offers students an opportunity to pursue an interest in the discipline of Kinesiology. Successful completion of an approved program leads to the Master of Science degree. Students pursuing the Master of Science degree are required to select one of two specializations: Sport Management or Applied Exercise Science.  Candidates will be required to complete a three-credit capstone with a choice of thesis, an approved special studies, or internship requirement.

Admissions Requirements


Candidates required to submit:

  • application for graduate study with non-refundable fee;
  • official transcript conferring bachelor’s degree (minimum 3.0 GPA) from an accredited institution. Students with less than a 3.0 can be accepted on a provisional basis upon review and approval of the Program Coordinator

 

Courses


 All degree candidates must successfuly complete the required core, a specialization, and supporting electives and a capstone

Specialization (choose one): 15 credits


 All students must choose one of two specializations: 

  • Sport Management
  • Applied Exercise Science

 

Sport Management (15 credits)


The Sport Management specialization provides a body of knowledge essential to leadership positions in the field of sport in both the public and private sector.  Students may choose from any of the below courses or other KIN courses approved by the Program Coordinator to satisfy the Sport Management specialization. 

Applied Exercise Science (15 credits)


The Applied Exercise Science specialization provides an in-depth study for those wishing to explore further the science of human movement and exercise.  Students can choose from any of the below KIN courses or other courses as approved by the Program Coordinator to satisfy the Applied Exercise Science specialization.  

Electives (6 credits)


All students are required to choose 6 credits of electives which can be chosen from any of the KIN courses offered.  Electives should be chosen with the guidance of the Program Coordinator.
