BA to MS Occupational Therapy (Accelerated 5-year Program)

The accelerated five-year BA in Kinesiology to Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program enables academically qualified, well-prepared undergraduate students who have determined they want to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy to enter into the program as first, second or third- year students. Students must apply for admission and be accepted into the accelerated program. Admission is competitive and the number of students admitted to the MS in OT program is limited. For more information visit Accelerated 5-year Programs

Students admitted to the accelerated five-year program will complete the 128 credits required for the undergraduate Kinesiology degree including all major courses, all McDaniel Plan requirements and all prerequisites for the MS in OT degree by the end of the third year of study. Students who meet the progression criteria will begin taking graduate courses in the summer following their third year of study, completing 28 graduate credits by December of the fourth year of study. Students will meet their Kinesiology capstone requirement by completing two graduate courses, OTH 501 and IPE 505 for 5 graduate credits and the remaining required 23 graduate credits (below) will fulfill the elective credits, to satisfy the 128 undergraduate credit to earn the BA degree.

Required Graduate Courses as Undergraduate Credit(s)
OTH 500: Foundations 3
OTH 502: Applied Anatomy for OT 2
OTH 503: Analyzing Human Movement 3
OTH 510: Performance Across the Lifespan 3

These graduate credits will be applied to the student’s undergraduate transcript to fulfill the undergraduate capstone requirement and electives to complete the required 128 credits to earn the bachelor’s degree by the fall of the fourth year of study. Students will matriculate to the master’s degree program in the January term, completing the additional 50 credits required for the master’s degree in the next 1.5 years including summer. Both degrees will be completed in five years. Students who do not meet the academic requirements for progression while an undergraduate student or who choose not to pursue the accelerated five-year program may stop out at any time and continue in the Kinesiology major without penalty but must complete all requirements to be awarded the bachelor’s degree.
