PHI 525 - Issues of Social Justice

An exploration of the meanings of justice in various philosophical and religious traditions and their application to particular social issues. The course will examine the justice of abortion, capital punishment, war, welfare, affirmative action, family arrangements, animal rights and other current social justice issues. Readings from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, and Confucian traditions and classical and contemporary philosophy.
