SED 507 - Special Education Law


Credits: 3
This course provides a comprehensive overview of special education law.  The issues of who is protected, what is an appropriate education, and what is the least restrictive environment will be stressed through actual cases.  Legal and policy issues will be discussed in a practical manner to benefit general and special education.  You will learn about laws such as Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB).  In addition, you will learn about the major principles of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvements Act (IDEA 2004).
