Culturally Proficient Teaching (CPT) Post-Baccalaureate Certificate

The Culturally Proficient Teaching Post Baccalaureate Certificate is an 18 credit-hour program that helps educators gain an understanding of culturally responsive instruction and leadership.  Candidates examine research-based best practices from the fields of Education that is Multicultural, English Learner Education, and Special Education.  This program prepares educators for changing demographics in 21st century schools by providing knowledge, skills, and dispositions to better meet the needs of diverse learners.  Coursework will address intercultural communication and second language learning; culturally supportive learning environments; identification and reduction of bias, prejudice, harassment, and discrimination; and the development of inclusive and equitable classrooms. McDaniel will award a certificate for completion of the series of six courses. This certificate is endorsed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).

Completers may continue to take coursework in this field leading toward a 36 hour specialized Master of Science in Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TSL).

* This certificate program is currently only available to Carroll County Public School educators.
