First Year Seminar

First Year Seminar is a student’s introduction to McDaniel College and the liberal arts. Offering unique experiences and topics, First Year Seminars are offered from nearly all disciplines and departments represented at the College. First-year students are encouraged to use First Year Seminar as a time to explore the many and varied disciplines in the liberal arts. Apart from the specific topic or theme, each of these courses will provide excellent opportunities for growth in critical thinking, analytic reading, writing, and oral communication, all of which are skills students will need to succeed in their college experience. The instructor for each course also serves as the student’s academic advisor.
