Religious Studies Major

Focus Areas (12hrs.)
Students must take at least three courses that deal with a major area within religious studies. Focus areas available on campus are listed below. Students interested in other focus areas are urged to consider study abroad. (Off campus courses require the specific approval of the Religious Studies faculty to satisfy this requirement.) Christianity (elect 3 courses)
Religion in America (elect 3 courses)
Religions of South and East Asia (elect 3 courses)
Electives (12 hrs)
- Three courses in religious studies at the 2000-level or higher, at least one of courses must be outside of the focus area.
Departmental Writing Requirement
DEPARTMENTAL WRITING REQUIREMENT: Students who major in Religious Studies are required to take Suggested First-Year Schedule:
- English Composition (based on placement)
- History
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Religious Studies
- Laboratory Science
- Foreign Language
- First Year Seminar
