Elementary/Secondary Education MS


Overview

This program offers graduate students the opportunity to self-design an academic plan in collaboration with the program coordinator to meet a student’s individual professional needs. The student’s course selection should include an area of focus which can be selected from one of the specializations listed below.  

Admissions Requirements


Candidates required to submit:

  • application for graduate study with non-refundable fee
  • official transcripts conferring bachelor’s degree (minimum 2.75 GPA) from an accredited institution

Courses


Candidates should schedule a meeting with the program coordinator upon initial admission to develop their individual program of study. The program of study will likely include but not be limited to courses in assessment, curriculum, instruction, technology, and research. Coursework completed in McDaniel’s certificate programs is applicable to this degree. The program requires a self-designed capstone experience.

Certification Opportunities


The student’s program can include one or more of the following options.

Gifted and Talented Education Specialist (GATES) - Those completing the GATES specialization have the option to complete an internship post-degree to earn the MSDE Gifted and Talented Specialist certification.

Leadership - Those completing the Leadership specialization have the option to complete an internship   post-degree to earn the MSDE Administrator I certification.
