ENG 2242 - American Literature II: Realism and NaturalismCredits: 4 The course presents a survey of American literature from 1865-1914. Authors include Jewett, Twain, James, Gilman, Chopin, Crane, Norris, Wharton, Dreiser, and Cather. The course will examine literary works in depth as well as explore the social, cultural, and historical forces that contributed to the creation of a vigorous native literature during the dynamic five decades between the American Civil War and World War I. Prerequisite(s) Placement into ENG-1101 McDaniel Plan: Textual Analysis.
