PSI 3326 - Pathways in International Relations

Foreign Service Officer; Journalist; Corporate Risk Analyst; Intelligence Analyst; Non-profit Program Officer; Human Rights Researcher; United Nations Political Affairs Officer. These are just a few of the many jobs that students who major in subjects related to International Relations can pursue after college. This course aims to help students to discover and prepare for future career and educational pursuits in International Relations. Tothis end, it will introduce students to the multitude of different pathways that exist for students with a background in this discipline, as well as help them to identify which of those directions may appeal to them. It will also assist them with learningabout the expectations and requirements of the different kinds of jobs within these pathways, along with how to go about aligning the skills, knowledge, and experiences that they have acquired during their college careers with the expectations of these different careers. As part of the course, students will have the opportunity to examine detailed case studies of professionals in the field; develop and receive feedback on application materials such as personal statements and resumes; network with alumni and other professionals in their field; and learn about the ethical and professional practices connected with many jobs within this highly rewarding field.
