Maryland certification in the teaching of world language requires candidates to take and pass the Oral Proficiency Inventory (OPI) offered by the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Candidates should contact the Teacher Placement Office in the Education Department for scheduling arrangements.
Students may earn Maryland certification in Spanish at the PreK-12 level by completing McDaniel College degree requirements and the following:

Completion of Spanish major including the following SPA courses required for certification:
Required SPA Course for PreK-12 Certification
Education Minor (PreK-12) - 38 Credits
