Provides an overview of the role and responsibilities of the school principal and related Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) Standards. Understanding is developed of how to provide leadership in order to develop the school into a professional learning community that can work together to impact student achievement. Areas addressed include the change process and how it is sustained through communication and collaboration; the school culture and how change is embedded into culture; how principals support growth and develop leadership capacity; the role of parents and the school community; and the power
of mission, vision, values, and goals. Candidates develop an initial vision and leadership portfolio.
