EDU 3324 - Literacy Instruction and MaterialsCredits: 4 This course examines theoretical and practical issues related to the design and implementation of a comprehensive literacy program. Candidates will critically analyze and implement developmentally appropriate instructional practices for phonemic awareness, phonics and word identification, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and writing. The course content addresses the organization and management of responsive, evidence-based literacy instruction and incorporates the selection and strategic use of effective instructional materials. For admitted Elementary Education students only. Prerequisite(s) EDU-2015 with a grade of C or higher; minimum required score for Praxis Core, SAT, or ACT or permission of department chair Co-requisite EDU-3124
