FYS 1109 - Our Unseen Enemies: Emerging VirusesCredits: 4 An emerging virus is a viral pathogen that suddenly explodes upon a population, seemingly out of nowhere. In the past few decades alone, viruses such as Ebola, HIV, West Nile Virus, SARS, and Avian Influenza have unexpectedly appeared in the human population, in some cases causing global pandemics. This course will introduce the student to the biological principles of virology, while also addressing the societal impact of emerging viral diseases.
