FST 2001 - Turkish Delights: Food, Culture & History

A 14-day, 12 nights study tour to explore the history, culture, and food of Turkey. The trip includes visits to important historical and cultural sites such as Cappadocia, with its famous “fairy chimneys,” tall, cone-shaped rock formations clustered in Monks Valley, Göreme; Konya, where the famous mystic, Rumi, is buried; Pamukkale with its famous “Cotton Fortress,” the white calcium cascades formed by mineral springs; Troy; Gallipoli, the site of many battles during WWI, and of course Istanbul with its many monuments and historical and religious sites such as the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Egyptian Spice Bazaar and more. In addition, there will be a culinary tour of Istanbul, a cooking class, a dinner on a Bosporus cruise, and of course a performance by the world-famous “Whirling Dervishes”.
